Jim is an artisan dedicated to his craft. Wielding an unyielding commitment to quality and commanding over 40 years of experience, Jim brings our clients' imaginative creations to life.

Jim began leading Hazelwood Construction Company as President in 1999 succeeding the previous tenure of Hazelwood Construction Company’s founder Bill Fletcher. Jim secured his unlimited building license in 1985. Jim spent a great deal of his early career in the commercial construction sector before expanding Hazelwood Construction Company’s interest into residential construction, remodeling, and renovation.

Jim brings the “nothing is impossible” grit and the dedicated hands of an experienced craftsman to produce inspiring kitchens, elegant master bathrooms, and breathtaking cabinetry. Jim’s breadth of experience in the commercial and residential construction markets means our clients can have the assurance that any challenge will be solved with the utmost diligence and executed with the highest standards of quality.

Columbia native, Alex Fletcher earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2010 from the University of South Carolina. Before joining the Hazelwood Construction Company team, Alex worked as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. In this position, he designed sophisticated machines, equipment and managed large capital projects for a local Columbia robotics firm. Alex has completed the first certification requirements for his Professional Engineering license with SC LLR.

Alex employs his unique technical problem solving skills to provide our clients with a fresh perspective to their challenging design opportunities. Alex’s exceeding commitment to you and the clients of Hazelwood Construction Company drives him to always put our clients needs and desires at the forefront of his mind and to thoughtfully communicate throughout the entirety project, as he strives to hold the highest standards of professionalism.

In his free time, Alex enjoys playing guitar and leading worship with his wife, Jennifer, at their local church and spending time with his children Zander and Charlotte. Alex also enjoys working on his classic 1967 Triumph TR4A, and tackling the never ending ‘honey do’ list.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Art in Interior Design in 2009 from the Art Institute of Charlotte.

Before joining the Hazelwood Construction team, Jennifer applied her talents as an Interior Designer at a local architectural firm. Jennifer continued her career in the construction industry in sales at a local building products distributor. As an interior designer, Jennifer not only guides our clients in the selection of finishes such as granite, tile, and paint colors but also takes into account the functionality of the space, the design of traffic flow, and the intended use. With these considerations Jennifer designs the space specifically tailored to our clients, and does not merely decorate the space.

Jennifer brings a talent of unlocking unseen potential in our clients’ homes and offices. By her ability to see past what is to what could be and helping our clients navigate their needs, she leads the effort in transforming houses into homes, and offices into productive centers of business. Her impeccable attention to detail and elegant solutions to otherwise difficult design challenges bring unmatched service to our clients.

Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband of eleven years, and their two beautiful children, Zander who is three and Charlotte who is one. You will more than likely find them on an adventure at Riverbanks Zoo, grilling out with their friends in Beaufort, SC or planning their next getaway to the Caribbean.
